What is NetGood?

What we do

Modern political fundraising is a zero-sum game: parties compete for donations to fund countless ads and canvassers, but much of the money spent by both sides ends up canceling itself out. NetGood offers an alternative system to change that. Our platform allows donors to offset donations to rival candidates, with the offset portion redirected to a charity of their choice.

How it works

For example, a donor supports the Blue Candidate and chooses a cancer charity, donating $100. Another donor supports the Red Candidate and chooses a veterans charity, donating $40. NetGood offsets the donations: $40 of the first donor's gift goes to the cancer charity, and the second donor's $40 goes to the veterans charity. The remaining $60 stays in the queue to be offset against future donations or goes to their selected candidate if the donation is not matched after a week.

The result: donations still support each candidate, but what money could have been wasted is instead sent to non-partisan charitable causes. We are currently preparing for a beta test of the platform.

Who we are

NetGood was founded by a group of professionals from outside the political world who share a common frustration: the enormous amount of money wasted in politics without truly affecting results or adding value. Our board brings together diverse backgrounds—a structural engineer, a software engineer, a public defender, and a finance PhD candidate. What unites us is the belief that political giving can do more. NetGood is our way of transforming wasted dollars into meaningful impact for both democracy and the community.
